Puerto Rico, Asaciados Médicos,
Inaugural Partners in Healthcare for Puerto Rico Health Summit
About Our Conference
La Academia de Asociados Médicos de Puerto Rico (AAMPR) and Physician Associates for Latino Health (PALH) invite you to the Verdanza Hotel in Puerto Rico August 19 – 21, 2022 for a collaborative event called “Partners in Health Care for Puerto Rico”.
This summit will be the first time ever that Asociados Medicos (PAs) in Puerto Rico have a seat at the table to discuss health disparities on the island and how to mitigate them in partnership with physicians, NGOs, students, community leaders, and more.
Puerto Rico has been hit hard over the years with natural disasters, ongoing poor reimbursement rates from insurers and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and most recently Covid-19, all severely hampering the delivery of health care to the citizens of Puerto Rico. In response, AAMPR and PALH are partnering to organize a meeting assembling healthcare leaders and innovators to create a plan to provide assistance to the healthcare providers on the island.
Over the three days we will share information, hear presentations, host a panel discussion on health disparities in Puerto Rico, have a strategy session, round table discussions and break into workgroups, with a final discussion of potential solutions, creating a framework for an action plan.
Invitees include the National Hispanic Medical Association (NHMA), American Academy of PAs (AAPA), PA Education Association (PAEA), National Commission on Certification of PAs (NCCPA), Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the PA (ARC-PA), AstraZeneca, Moderna, the University of Puerto Rico (UPR), San Juan Bautista (Faculty, Medical, PA Students), Puerto Rican legislators and local leaders, local physicians, and local stakeholder organizations such as Asociación de Hospitales de Puerto Rico, Asociación de Salud Primaria de Puerto Rico (ASPPR), Academia de Médicos de Familia de Puerto Rico, Colegio de Médicos Cirujanos de Puerto Rico, Departamento de Salud, Northeast/Caribbean AIDS Education, and Training Center (NECA AETC), Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Physicians and Asociado Médicos (PA-Cs) from the Veterans Hospital of Puerto Rico, and local hospitals leaders.
